Elements Europe Wins Phase Two of Lincoln Student Scheme
Following the successfully delivery of Phase 1, Elements Europe has been awarded a second contract by joint venture partners Richardson and Jackson & Jackson Developments.
A further 332 bathroom pods will be manufactured for Viking House student accommodation in Lincoln. Earlier this year Elements Europe manufactured 158 bathroom pods for phase 1, bringing the total number of pods in this scheme to 490.
Phase one saw the client approach Elements Europe with a very short lead time. Working closely with the client and the University of Lincoln, the pods were designed, materials procured, and manufactured in just 6 weeks. Bathroom pods went straight from the production line to site to be installed, maintaining the projects tight timescale, allowing for the building to be completed for this year’s intake.
In June it was announced that Lincoln city council had approved further expansion. Phase two will see the demolition of a restaurant to make way for the new build five storey student accommodation building.
“Phase one saw the installation of bathroom pods into the existing concrete frame of the previous building, a good demonstration of how offsite construction methods can be applied to refurbishment projects.” Commented Kevin Arthur, Director at Elements Europe.
“Phase two will see bathroom pods being craned in direct to the new building” he added.
