Security Service Accommodation Returns from the G8 Summit
Elements Europe and Pickstock Construction were once again selected to provide accommodation for the security services this time at the G8 summit taking place in Northern Ireland.
Elements Europe provided accommodation to house 1350 security personnel at the G8 summit with Pickstock Construction taking care of the management and logistics of the project.
Each of the 170 units is 7m long, 3m high and over 4m wide and contains two rooms. Every room features two bunk beds and two en-suite bathrooms making it suitable for military use. The configuration which was designed according to the client’s specification accommodates four soldiers per room and eight per unit.
The units are weather proof, durable and thermally efficient and do not leave a footprint. They can easily be connected to mains water and electricity and in cases where neither of these are available the units can instead be hooked up to generators and mobile water and waste water units.
“It was great to have the opportunity to provide accommodation for the security services once again. These units are very suitable for the defence sector as they do not leave a footprint and are easily transported from one site to another” says Stuart Johnstone, Commercial Director at Elements Europe.
Elements Europe and Pickstock Construction provided accommodation in the summer of 2012 for 3,000 troops at Hainault Park using the same units.
