Saratoga Springs, NY to Become a SiFi Networks’ FiberCity™

The city of Saratoga Springs, NY has unanimously voted SiFi Networks as the preferred supplier of a fiber optic network in the city.

The city has been discussing its technical infrastructure for many years, and now plans are in motion and it can look forward to superfast speeds that will offer a sustainable technological future for the community and its businesses.

SiFi Networks will deploy its FOCUS™ system which consists of a number of proprietary and non-proprietary construction techniques to build the fiber infrastructure which will deliver symmetrical speeds of 1 Gbps or higher to residential, commercial, and government buildings in the city as well as provision for known future developments upon completion of installation.

Specific demand points will also be determined during the design process for future innovations, including street lights, traffic lights, intersections, bus stops, streets at city limits, storm water outflow points, underground utility access points, city utility buildings and select street locations for monitoring weather conditions.

“Saratoga Springs will receive a network that is fully future proof, we have ensured that all bases are covered in designing its requirements. Sustainability is key.” Commented Scott Bradshaw, President, SiFi Networks America.

Residents will benefit from a far better browsing, streaming and gaming experience with a fiber connection, as well as the advantages a faster internet brings to city services such as healthcare, transport, safety and environmental management to name just a few.

Businesses in the city will have a platform for growth and greater productivity as well as reliability, improved data storage and better remote communication.

The infrastructure may also attract new businesses wanting to operate from the city as well as new residents being attracted to the area, growing the local economy.

An independent feasibility study will now be carried out to establish the requirements of the city. The study aims to identify any potential hurdles the city may face by installing such a network, including those that are geographic, engineering, or financial in nature.

Market and community based research will also be carried out to determine the city’s appetite for such a network to ensure the demand for the service will be there once built.
