Cutting of the Turf at New Print Works Site
The Pickstock Group has marked the start of work at the new Dobson and Crowther print works by holding a turf cutting ceremony on site in Llangollen. The ceremony follows the appointment of Pickstock Construcion as principle contractor and the commencement of site set up and ground clearance in readiness for construction of the new print works to begin next month.
J-Ross Developments Ltd brought this development to fruition following a grant of planning permission for a two phase development that will see Dobson and Crowther relocate to a new site and a new Sainsbury food store built on their old site.
A number of key stakeholders met at the Climedw site to see Llangollen Mayor, Councillor Robert Lube carry out the cutting of the turf. Amongst those that attended was Ken Skates, Clwyd South AM, Llangollen Town Crier, local councillor Stuart Davies, Paul Holden, MD of Dobson & Crowther and Nick Scott CEO of J-Ross Developments Ltd.
Ken Skates commented, “I am pleased work is now underway on this long-awaited and much-needed new factory, guaranteeing the future we all want for Dobson & Crowther.”
Llangollen Councillor Stuart Davies also commented “I welcome the start of the Cilmedw project. It is to be hoped that it is just the beginning of a job creating site. It has been a long time coming to fruition. The majority of residents recognise the importance of it and the jobs that can be created for the future of our community. I was sad to hear about the loss of 30 jobs in the print works and I am doing everything I can to mitigate the effects of these job losses. I hope that the new factory will be successful and that success will be able to make more jobs in the future. I wish the owners and the workforce all the best in their new factory.
