SiFi Networks Speaks at Mountain Connect Conference, CO
SiFi Networks was invited to speak at this year’s Mountain Connect Conference in Keystone, Colorado. The conference which took place over the weekend focused on all aspects related to broadband development, a topic that SiFi Networks happily agreed to speak about.
SiFi Networks’ CEO, Ben Bawtree-Jobson discussed the creation and maintenance of a sustainable FTTx network focusing on the importance of open access networks, independent operations and Smart City initiatives.
Ben examined all aspects in relation to creating a sustainable network demonstrating the three-layer model which highlights the importance of having an independent operational layer as well as the value of creating an open-access network using the City of Reykjavik as an example.
“It is vital that a network has an independent operator to that of the service provider to enable the municipality with the option to create an open access network if not immediately but in the future. Open access networks stimulate competition and ultimately improve the customer experience.” Commented Ben Bawtree-Jobson, CEO of SiFi Networks.
“When designing a FTTx network it is imperative that the infrastructure, operations and service provision layers are carefully considered to enable a sustainable network” Added Bawtree-Jobson.
Fabricio Velez, Business Development Director at Nokia, SiFi Networks’ network operating partner joined Ben to discuss Smart City initiatives and the benefits careful planning of a network can bring to future proof a community for decades.
The conference saw the industry’s key players attend such as Nokia, Corning, Google, Microsoft and Hewlett Packard to name a few.
