SiFi Networks’ Circa $100 Million Palmdale FiberCity® Project is Underway

The role out of SiFi Networks’ Open Access Fiber Networks Continues, Delivering up to 10 Gpbs, Among Fastest Speeds in U.S.

Palmdale, CA – (September 25 2023) SiFi Networks has started construction of the circa $100 million Palmdale FiberCity® network. The revolutionary fiberoptic infrastructure investment will bring a fast, affordable, and reliable all-fiber Internet network to every home, business, and institution in the city.

The project, which is being funded privately, will provide access to Palmdale’s over 50,000 households, businesses and institutions, with speeds up to 10 Gbps, among the fastest residential speeds available in the United States.

Notably, the Palmdale FiberCity® project will be an Open Access network, a successful model in other regions of the U.S. and across Europe. Open Access allows fiber infrastructure to be shared by multiple service providers, whether that be Internet, wireless, or other services, thereby delivering the fastest speeds at the most competitive prices to the consumer. Like all SiFi Networks fiber builds in the U.S., the Palmdale FiberCity® project will be constructed at no cost or risk to taxpayers.

Shawn Parker, VP Government Affairs and Business Development, SiFi Networks: “This is an exciting time for the community and SiFi Networks. The Palmdale FiberCity® represents a commitment by SiFi Networks and the City to Bridge the Digital Divide.  So, a big thank you to the City of Palmdale and the many city employees dedicated to making this network a reality. Once completed, the network will level the playing field. Finally, giving residents and businesses a true choice in internet providers, while also creating a next generation network to support the needs of future generations.”

“The team is really excited to become immersed in the community of Palmdale now that construction of the FiberCity® network is underway. Keep an eye on our events online at palmdalefibercity.com and on our social media channels so you can come out and meet us in person and ask any questions you may have about the project” Commented Marcus Bowman, Community Relations Manager SiFi Networks.

The community will see SiFi Networks’ construction partner Pramira out in the city with their microtrenching machine, trenching thin shallow trenches at the curb line where they will lay the fiber conduit and then reinstate the trench. You will receive a door hanger in advance of the construction starting in your street and parking notifications will be on display.  The multi-year project is being built in phases, and properties will be put live with fiber in a rollout approach, neighborhood by neighborhood.
